End of the Age / Latter Days

Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Herodions Mark 8:15

It would be interesting to investigate who the Pharisees and the Herodions were. But that could mean getting bogged down in the weeds. Enough to note here that Jesus was warning His disciples of the traditions of men, religious and otherwise.

Even well intentioned teaching or leaven should be aligned with God’s Word alone. Man’s explanations not expressed in “chapter and verse” of the Bible should be left aside. The Bible explains itself so if “someone” gives an explanation of scripture it won’t be obscure and lack common sense.

For example if 1 Corinthians 15:51 says all will be changed, in the twinkling of an eye at the last trumpet and Paul is writing to believers that means all, everyone who believes. Not just a few, there is no other qualification necessary.

Look at the context of a text always. The God who created communication is well able to communicate! When a book is called The Revelation of Jesus Christ know it’s not looking to hide a truth, Similarly a truth from the Word of God would not be contrary to the Word. When people quote Matthew 16:17 without considering the verse 16 immediately before that, it looks like the foundation of the church could be on a mere man. Look also at following verses, especially verse 23! , or else why did Jesus have to come to earth? Jesus told us He is the Way, the Truth and the Life, there is no other foundation.
